Message from The Mayor
It is always necessary to look
back to the past in order to understand the
present. This will in turn enable us to
understand the future. As this year draws to a
close, we look with pride on the achievements we
have made. The year has been a strategic tipping
point for the municipality. During the year, the
municipality has continued to set new records of
delivery against key development impact and
service delivery performance indicators in line
with the commitments made in the IDP
There have been a number of successes this year
in terms of service delivery. The Malamulele
Landfill project which is in the tune of R1,
2-million and wholly an MIG fund is one of
those. This project has been completed. The
Phaphazela/Dakari Road which is being
constructed to the cost of R4-million also
started on July 11 this year. It is approaching
halfway mark towards completion. Another project
is the Makwarela Extension 3 Main Street which
is being upgraded at the cost of R6-million. It
started on July 24. R4-million is the MIG Fund
while the other is counter fund. The Mdabula
Sports facility is also in progress. The project
which started on July 5 is costing R5-million
and is nearing completion. The MIG fund is R4,
5-million while R500 000 is counter fund.
Another milestone achievement is the
construction of Tsitangani Sindane Access Road.
This has a MIG funding of R200 000 and started
on August this year.
Another one is the Tshiavha Access road to the
tune of R2, 2-million. This road which started
on August 14 is half way towards completion. The
Tshifulanani Sports facility is also being
upgraded to the tune of R5-million.This project
started on September 8.
The year ahead is full of service delivery
challenges and promise. Surely the stakes are
high, but all depended on the expanded
partnership between the municipality and
communities. On behalf of the municipality, I
wish to extend our appreciation to your
continued support without which there would be
no contract between the people and the
municipality. As you receive tourists to our
various areas of tourist attractions, extend our
grace to all. As you drive to various
destinations of the country, carry the flag of
the municipality. As you return from all walks
of the country, Arrive Alive.
