Thulamela Municipality Meets Learners
Thulamela Mayor Councillor Grace Mahosi accompanied by Exco members and delegates from Department of Education visited Silemale Secondary School at Khubvi village outside Thohoyandou as part of supporting, encouraging and wishing learners good luck for their examinations which are commencing next week on Monday.
When addressing learners the Mayor reminded them about the promises they made during the back to school campaigns held at the beginning of the year.
"Education is one of the Government priority list, so as the Municipality it is our mandate to give full support to you. In our Municipality we have a Mayoral Bursary Funds which we offer to those who will do their level best in their exams," Mahosi said.
She further said they are encouraging learners to get 100% pass rate this year. "Our District normally produce good results every year and in that way we are proud of that. Make yourselves, your parents and your teachers proud by good results", she said.
School principal Mr Matodzi Thinandavha warned learners that there is no short- cut to success in life. He further said learners must not be discouraged by bad infrastructure of the school but rather to focus on learning.
Speaking on behalf of learners Prudence Musipha promised 100% in their examination. "Last year our school produce 74% pass rate but after the Mayor motivated us, i trust that we will get 100% this year", said Prudence.
The Mayor also visited Tshivhase High school at Vhufuli on friday 16 October in the same programme.
