A Mother of Three Children Finally Received Her Identity Document
At long last Esther Chauke from Nkovani village in Malamulele area finally received identity document following an intervention from Thulamela Municipality through Mayoral public participation programme held on Friday.
Accompanied by Executive committee the Mayor of Thulamela Municipality Councillor Grace Mahosi, manager from department of Home Affairs in Malamulele area Mr. Yuza Smile Shiviti and other officials handed over identity document to a mother of three children who lived her life without an ID document.
As a results of not having identity document, Esther, s children has been disadvantaged from receiving government grant as they don't have birth certificates. Nevertheless Mr. Shiviti assured that as they had handed over ID document to the mother the department will start with the process in assisting the children with their birth certificates. "As government we work as collective, as soon as they have their birth certificates SASSA will intervene with the social grant process, "said Shiviti.
After receiving her identity document Esther said "I almost lost hope that one day I will have an ID, I am happy, my children will live a normal life, "said Esther.
The Mayor Cllr N.G Mahosi also visited destitute families with challenges of houses. In terms of housing allocation the Mayor said the Municipality is doing all it can to ensure that communities are settled in an integrated sustainable manner by prioritizing elderly, people with disabilities and child headed families in housing provision .
